Bruce Haupt

Bruce is Cofounder of Open Houston and Innovation Advisor to the City of Houston. Open Houston is the community organization, partnered with Code for America, focused on public sector innovation. Until recently, Bruce was Deputy Assistant Director of the City of Houston Finance Department where he formed Houston's Citywide Performance Improvement division. The Performance Improvement division serves as the city's internal consulting team leading city analytics and data warehousing efforts, tackling major process improvement projects, managing the city's lean six sigma training program, and tracking citywide performance measures. The team also spearheaded Houston's Open Data and Open Innovation Hackathon initiatives in partnership with the community and city leaders across departments. Bruce has given talks on local government innovation to public and private sector audiences, and was a participant in the recent White House Champions of Change in Open Government and Civic Hacking event. He completed his Master in Public Policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Florida and Associate of Arts from Brevard Community College. He currently resides in Chengdu, China with his wife.
